Legendary player “Ararat-73” Suren Martirosyan passed away

According to the press service of the Football Federation of Armenia, the legendary football player “Ararat 73”, USSR master of sports Suren Martirosyan, whose name is directly connected with the famous pages of Armenian football, passed away at the age of 70.

Suren Martirosyan played a big role in the Armenian football of the 70s, his beautiful game giving joy to Armenians all over the world. In June 2019, Suren Martirosyan was awarded the FFA Gold Medal for his great contribution to Armenian football.

Martirosyan spent most of his career in Yerevan “Ararat” (1966-1977), took part in 141 matches of the Higher League of the USSR Championship. He is the champion of the USSR in 1973, the silver medalist of 1976, the owner of the Cup of the country in 1973 and 1975. Participated in 13 European Cup matches. In 1987-1989 was a coach of FC “Ararat” Yerevan.

Our club expresses deep condolences to the family of Suren Martirosyan, his relatives and all fans of Armenian football.

The memorial service will be held on December 10 at 18:00 in the church of St. Sarkis in the 5th Nor Nork massif.
