URARTU-GIRLS IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE: SUMMARIZING THE AUTUMN PART

05/12/2020

Having won group B of the women's football championship in the 2019/20 season, Urartu-Girls got the opportunity to play in the Premier League. In the first half of the current season, our girls played 9 matches, won 6 times and lost 3. Thus, with 15 points, we finish the year in 4th place.

We have summed up the results of the autumn part of the championship with the head coach of the team Knarik Grigoryan:

ABOUT PERFORMANCES IN THE PREMIE LEAGUE AND THE FIRST PART

“Frankly speaking, it was a surprise for us to get into this group. We got the opportunity and, having correctly assessed the situation, in the end chose the difficult path. The reason was obvious: we had no real competitors in Group B, so we didn't limit ourselves to what we had. At first there were difficulties: a new championship, more experienced teams, but we started the season well, during this period we won many victories, which already deserves praise."

ABOUT CHAMPIONSHIP LEVEL

“The level of the teams in the Premier League is much higher. The vast majority of the Armenia national women's team plays here, but there are also teams with little experience. I think the fight for the championship is going on between two teams - Alashkert-girls and Hayasa."

ABOUT THE PHYSICAL CONDITION OF GIRLS

“The whole team is in good shape, the girls have already adapted to the fact that, unlike Group B, where they spent 70 minutes on the field, the duration of the match here is 90 minutes. Now their gaming experience and aspiration have increased, they fight a lot and prepare even more for each game."

EXPECTATIONS FROM CHAMPIONSHIP

“Realizing that it will be difficult for us facing the strong teams, our goal from the very beginning was for our girls to grow up and gain experience, which is already obvious. In theory, we have the opportunity to take third place in the championship, we believe in the potential of our girls and are counting on the maximum."
