KNARIK GRIGORYAN: "IN THE NEAREST FUTURE WE WILL PROVIDE THE NATIONAL TEAM WITH OUR PLAYERS"

21/12/2021

There are fewer representative teams in the Armenian Women's Premier League this season compared to the previous one. This year, 5 out of 7 teams entered the struggle. Urartu-girls team finished the last season in 4th place. Our girls finished the autumn part with 6 points in the asset, taking the 4th place. During the winter break, we talked with the head coach of Urartu-girls team, Knarik Grigoryan․

ABOUT THE GIRLS PERFORMANCE IN THE CURRENT SEASON

“This is our second season in the Women's Premier League. Last year we decided to fight with more experienced teams, the results were quite satisfactory. In the autumn part of the current season 2021/22, we held 8 matches, have 2 victories, but it should be added that the rival teams this year have become stronger at the expense of legionnaires. It turns out that at the moment we are playing along with more experienced and older players. And in matches with peers we show the best results."

ABOUT THE PHYSICAL STATE OF THE TEAM

“It's true that competing with adults is a great experience for our girls, but there is also a downside: it’s a lot of stress, it increases injuries. At the moment, we have 3-4 players who are now undergoing treatment, some of them are already undergoing rehabilitation. We try to do everything in such a way as to start the second half of the season without losses."

ABOUT THE NEWLY CREATED U-12 TEAM

“I have always been convinced that Urartu FC women's teams are the strongest in their age categories. Our newly formed up to 12 years old team is a confirmation of this. At the moment, the team is showing an absolutely excellent result at the championship, which also encourages the girls. We try to develop what we have, that is, to move forward on our own. And if girls continue to struggle with such potential, then in 2-3 years we will have a much more competitive team."

ABOUT FOOTBALLERS CALLED-UP TO NATIONAL TEAMS

“There has always been a demand for our footballers from the Armenian national U-17 and U-19 teams. We have 5-6 players in the main squad of the Armenian U-17 national team, who score goals, which is very pleasing."

With their qualities they meet the requirements of the national team, only because of the age discrepancy they are not there yet, but in the near future we will definitely provide the players of the national team.”
