In the first match of 2021, Urartu FC recorded a draw. The fixture with Pyunik FC ended 2-2. In Urartu FC the goals were scored by Jonel Desire and Edgar Grigoryan, and in Pyunik FC by Levon Vardanyan and Artem Avanesyan.

Starting on January 6 the preparation process, Urartu FC hold first friendly fixture, hosting Pyunik FC. The first half was dominated by Urartu FC. The players of team led by Aleksandr Grigoryan managed to score 2 goals, first after the individual cross the top-scorer of the first part of VBET Armenian Premier League Jonel Desire scored, and 11 minutes later after the corner Edgar Grigoryan scored. Before the break, Pyunik's players managed to score goal. Levon Vardanyan became the author of the goal.

In the second half, Aleksandr Grigoryan almost completely changed the squad of the team, giving playing time to the rest of the players. In the 53rd minute of the second half, the players of Pyunik FC equalized the score. Artyom Avanesyan scored the equalizer. The last part of the fixture took place in a spectacular struggle.
