ROBERT ARZUMANYAN: “THE GUYS SHOWED CHARACTER TODAY”

08/04/2022

After a draw with Ararat-Armenia FC (1-1) in the 25th round of Vbet Armenian Premier League, the head coach of Urartu FC Robert Arzumanyan spoke about the game․

ABOUT THE GAME

“We played against a very good opponent, which caused difficulties. Somewhere we were forced not to play the game that we play, that is, today we did not have full control of the ball. But we showed character, which is very important in football, which I am very happy about. Along with all this, besides the scored goal, we had a few more chances that we could use, score a goal and win. We played only for the sake of winning, which, unfortunately, did not work out.

The coach also answered questions from journalists:

ABOUT THE REASONS FOR VIOLATION OF THE RULES AND MISSING A GOAL

“I can’t say which team broke the rules more, the statistics will show it. Usually we break them less than today. We knew that the opponents were playing with strong pressure, but we did not give up and constantly tried to attack. During attempts, we often lost the ball, as a result of which there were violations.

ABOUT ATTACKS ORGANIZED BY URARTU FC

“During counterattacks, the team has more space, which I can’t say about positional attacks, this is the most difficult thing in football. We train not only positional attacks, but also counterattacks, because this is also part of football. You correctly noted that from the second half of the first half we were closer to the football we were supposed to play.

I think today there was a big fight, because we are the leaders in possession of the ball in the championship, the second in this indicator is Ararat-Armenia FC, today there was a fight for the ball. We had chances both to score a goal and to concede, but with the character that the guys showed, I can say for sure that we would not have deserved to lose.

ABOUT URARTU FC STATISTICS IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE

“At the moment we are leading the league in many of the statistics that you see in the European top clubs. With them, we should have been in 3rd or 4th place in the Premier League. It is not yet possible to beat the leaders in the championship, but we beat Alashkert FC in the Cup and forced Pyunik FC, which is in the title race, to play counterattacks several times. In the Armenian Premier League, all the teams are strong and compete with each other, we play every game against the strongest opponent.”
