MARKO BRTAN: “CORONAVIRUS MAKES US TO VALUE WHAT WE HAVE”

14/05/2020

It's more than one week “Urartu” FC resumed training session. True, it is still unknown when the matches of the Championship and the Cup will resume, but “Urartu” FC continues to prepare, holding friendly fixtures during this period. We talked with the Croatian midfielder Marko Brtan, who told how he spends time under quarantine conditions:

I MISSED TRAINING SESSIONS

- How are training under quarantine conditions?

- Everything goes as usual. I am very glad that we finally returned to the field. I really missed trainings and our home ground.

- How did you spend time in self-isolation?

- I spent a lot of time with my family. In any situation, you can do something useful, learn something new. During this time, I spent a lot of time learning Russian. I trained at home, enjoyed communicating with my family. And so life went on in quarantine.

- What is the situation in your homeland, in Croatia?

- The situation in Croatia is exactly the same as in Armenia. They also gradually turn to normal life. Shops and cafes open with some restrictions. Croats are trying to return to their previous way of life.

- What was life like without football?

- It was really boring. I never imagined my life without trainings and football. This quarantine made us appreciate football and everything else that we have.

WE ARE IN GOOD SHAPE

- What can you say about trainings? How do you feel right now?

- I feel good, ready for new challenges. Yes, we did not conduct group trainings at that time, but everyone at home trained hard, so I can’t say that we didn’t do anything. I have already said that any situation can be used on demand. But in any case, it is one thing to train separately, it is quite another to train with the team. Physically, we are in fairly good condition, the coaches talked to us every day, giving exercises that helped us keep our physical shape. Now we train more with the ball. All exercises are aimed at improving technical skills.

- “Urartu” holds friendly matches during this period, how important are they?

- In my opinion they are very important. These matches help us again feel the rhythm of the game, return to that pace, and get enough game practice. These matches will help us to be ready to resume of the Championship.

- Will the world change after coronavirus?

- I always try to be optimistic. Yes, these are really difficult times, there are many obscure questions, but I believe that over time everything will improve. And the public, I urge you to comply with safety rules and be optimistic. I hope that all this will end soon, our matches will resume, we will enjoy football together and celebrate new victories.
