NAREK GRIGORYAN IS THE YOUNGEST PLAYER OF URARTU FC, WHO PLAYED IN THE NATIONAL TEAM

In the 9th round of the qualifying group J of FIFA World Cup 2022, Armenian National team faced the National team of North Macedonia at home and lost 0-5.

In this match, 20-year-old Urartu FC forward Narek Grigoryan made his debut, caming on as a substitute in the 73rd minute of the match.

Grigoryan became the youngest player in the history of Urartu FC (20 years, 147 days) to play an official match for the National team.

Earlier this record belonged to Samvel Melkonyan, who made his debut in the National team on September 3, 2005 in the FIFA World Cup 2006 qualifying round match with The Netherlands (0-1). At that time, Melkonyan was 20 years old and 172 days old.

Sargis Karapetyan (19; Latvia - Armenia 0-0, 11.02.2009) is the youngest Urartu FC player to have played in friendly fixtures of the National team. At the age of 19 y.o also made their debutes Hovhannes Hambardzumyan (Armenia - Iran 1-3 11․08․2010), Artak Dashyan (Latvia - Armenia 0-0 02.11.2009) and Walter Poghosyan (Serbia - Armenia 2-0 02.28.2012 ), but let's remind once again that these players made their debuts in the National team in unofficial matches.

Grigoryan became the 31st Urartu FC player in history to play for the Armenian National team.

The last time from Urartu FC in the National team was Hakob Hakobyan and Artur Miranyan, who took part in a friendly fixture with Sweden on June 5 (1-3).

And in the official matches the last representative of Urartu FC was Hakob Hakobyan, who last spring took part in the match with the Icelandic National team, in the match with which our team won 2-0.

Among the Urartu FC players, Samvel Melkonyan (24 matches) held the most matches for the National team, Aram Hayrapetyan is in second place (18 matches), and Ararat Arakelyan held one match less (17 matches).
